AZZURRO is a professional international artist specialising in large scale mural artworks. He was born in 1994 and grew up in Blackwood, South Australia. Azzurro accepts private, corporate, government and council design commissions across Adelaide and internationally, with countless European pieces in Amsterdam and London. Among his most notable works are his murals at Adelaide's Central Market Arcade, art bathrooms at the Seasonal Garden Cafe and a massive climate-change exhibition 'It's Getting Hot in Here'.
He has created works for a pub, insane asylum, casino, travelator, dessert lounge, library, youth centre, engineers, market stalls, gay pride festival, mental health facility, shopping mall, barber, music festival, train station, hostels, nightclubs and many restaurants and cafes.
Azzurro attended Christian Brothers College in Adelaide where he extensively studied pop artists Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein as well as artists of the psychedelic art movement such as Alex Grey, Stanley Mouse, Victor Moscoso, Chris Dyer and Keith Haring. He has also studied fashion design and performance artistry of artists such as Alexander McQueen, Gautier, Lady Gaga, Daft Punk and The Beatles. Among other artistic influences are Matt Groening (The Simpsons), Naughty Dog (Crash Bandicoot), Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), Lemony Snicket (A Series of Unfortunate Events), early MAD Magazine cartoons, Terry Denton (illustrator for Andy Griffiths' novels), Graeme Base (The Eleventh Hour) and Martin Handford (Where's Wally?).
Azzurro withdrew from a Bachelor of Psychology early due to skyrocketing demand for professional mural work and has been creating prolifically ever since.
